Thank you to everyone who made the first-ever Responsible Pet Owners Day a success! Lots of great numbers below. Our expectation was a couple hundred people, and we almost tripled that goal. This is one of many steps that will make Franklin County a more pet-friendly community.

 

BY THE NUMBERS:

580 -Total attendees
78 - Dogs Vaccinated (Rabies/Distemper) through OpSPOT
1 - Cat Vaccinated through OpSPOT with 50+ on the vaccination wait list for the make-good date on March 12 at Purina Farms
250 - Purina Pet ID tags produced and more in the works that will be mailed out to attendees
40 - Dogs microchipped by Open Door Animal Sanctuary
200 - Purina treats given to dog owners
150 - Dogs washed by Dirty Dog Wash in Chesterfield
99 - Nail trims by the Riverfront Working Dog Club
75–100 Visitors to each of the "Ask The Expert" booths (nutritionist, trainer and veterinarian)
More than 100 lessons in responsible pet care shared with children along with a take-home stuffed dog and cat provided by the Humane Society of Missouri
A couple of adoptable pets from the Franklin County Humane Society found forever homes
Hundreds of spectators inspired by the Purina Pro Plan Performance Team flying disc demonstration featuring rescued canines from across the country
$30,000 grant awarded to the Franklin County Humane Society to increase capacity and the living conditions for the pets in their care

Thank you also to Boles Fire Protection District, Wildlife Rescue, Hillermann Nursery, The Espoma Company, etc..for providing much-needed education regarding emergency situations, dangers of household pets to wildlife, safe landscaping for pets, and more!!!
