Firefighter I & II Class



Next Class Starts June 1, 2017


The Boles Fire Protection District and Union Fire Protection District hosts a Firefighter I & II Certification class annually.  The class identifies the roles and responsibilities of a firefighter, teaches tools and functions of the fire service and techniques for firefighting.  This class is both classroom and hands on practical testing.  The completion of the class certifies you to test for Missouri State Firefighter I & II Certificate but does not guarantee a Missouri State Firefighter I & II Certificate.

The student will identify the roles and responsibilities of a firefighter in the fire service plus define the basic functions of the fire service. The student will describe the basic types of fire apparatus and tools and their functions. The student will demonstrate competencies in basic firefighting techniques such as search and rescue, ventilation and ladder basics. The student will identify and describe the correct use of hose lines and fire streams. The students will also identify and analyze general safety procedures and the use of personal protective clothing. The student will describe the correct procedures and techniques for the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). The student will identify potential hazardous materials incidents.  


Successful completion of this course and Entry Level Firefighter 2 (47-503-518) will fulfill the requirements for NFPA 1001.

The cost of the training program is $500. Class size is limited to 20 students.
