“Be Prepared – Proper Training Can Save Lives”
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
This program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Class is free to all students, there are no age requirements and you do not have to be a resident of the Boles Fire Protection District to attend.
Upcoming classes will be web-based with required online courses that will need to be completed over a 7 week time period.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
Boles Fire Protection District will host an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training program. Space is limited to approximately 20 students per class and upon successful completion students are qualified to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician’s practical exam. Successful completion of the practical exam will then qualify a student to sit for the written exam. Once completed a Missouri license is applied for which opens the opportunity to work as an EMT in the field.
An EMT responds to emergency calls and performs actions within the protocols of the District they are working for. They can work on an ambulance or at a fire station. They can also work in hospitals as technicians. The training includes both classroom and hands on experience in the field. Some interventions an EMT can perform include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, bleeding control, treatment of shock, immobilization, splinting and medical emergencies.
Each student is required to complete several hours at a professional ambulance service under the supervision of a licensed provider. After completion of the class, the student will test for National Registry. Successful completion of the class does not guarantee the student will receive National Certification.
Cost of the EMT Training Program for 2023 is $1,000. (Note: A deposit of $500 is required to hold your place in class with the balance due prior to or at the start of class unless other arrangements have been made with Program Coordinator). Fire Extinguisher Training
Fire Extinguisher Classes are offered to anyone in the District and are free of charge. We encourage practicing fire extinguisher use before an emergency and not when lives or property damage are at stake.
The firefighters will come to your place of business and employees are able to use a fire extinguisher to put out a real fire. We are also able to teach classes to groups of 5 or more people that are wanting to practice safe fire extinguisher usage. These can be held at any of the fire stations, your place of business, church or our training facility. Contact BFPD to schedule.
